Prow

Prow

This massive formation points up the north slope of Mt. Rainier, and like the prow of a great ship divides the huge glacier above it into two separate flows: Emmons Glacier and Winthrop Glacier. There's a third glacier within the boundaries of the wedge itself known Inter Glacier, which, along with Emmons Glacier, forms the two main sources of the White River. The faint lines in the snow of Inter Glacier are tracks left by the many climbers who use this route up Mt. Rainier. The climbers themselves are much too tiny to be seen.
