Taughannock Falls and Gorges

At 215 feet, Taughannock Falls is one of the highest falls in the eastern US. In classic form, it sits at the end of it's gorge with walls upwards of 400 feet.

There are two falls and two gorges at what is normally thought of as "Taughannock Falls", an upper and a lower. The falls in the lower gorge are the main attraction, but the upper falls and gorge are worth seeing too.

The best available view of the lower falls is from the "Overlook", the official drive-up lookout point on the north rim trail open all year long, but there are other viewpoints with their own appeal.
